Do what I say not what I do - Rules that the LRPD chief has for his cops don't apply to him

On April 19th, the frazzled LRPD police chief sent out a memorandum to his mercenary police force that gives us a glimpse at the low morale and internal conflict at LRPD.

As the memo states, "All LRPD must present a professional demeanor and professional appearance...".

So when Chief Keef made an appearance at the 23rd killing of the year for Little Rock - a city that he states isn't dangerous and doesn't have a gun problem - we were surprised at his failure to adhere to his own orders about presenting a professional appearance.

Citizens and members of the Little Rock Board of Directors have questioned his continued employment.

Humphrey's continuing problems with personal finances (we broke that story last year - click here to view it) that have no resulted in four lawsuits (and three judgments) against him and is an embarrassment to the city.

LRPD cops have been fired for the same thing and it has prevent individuals from becoming a police recruit.

Humphrey had been found to be in contempt of a court order and that has gotten LRPD cops suspended or fired.

And then there is that "early morning trip" to the home of his applicant of choice for an administrative position under him, to personally "deliver a police report".

But the feckless Little Rock mayor does not see a problem.

When the police union, racist or not, tells the mayor and city board they have no confidence in Humphrey's ability to lead LRPD, that is a major problem.

The lawsuits LRPD cops have filed against him and the one he has filed against LRPD cops and companies that do business with the city is another red flag.

If the feckless mayor really wants to rebuild Little Rock, the first step is to fire his lousy choice for police chief and appoint a new one from the ranks.
